Has anyone else noticed…

Has anyone else noticed the similarities between the “LOST – The Final Season” poster (still searching for a decent copy) and the cover of The Beatles’ album Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band? For your reference, the front, and the back. Ok, ok so its a stretch, but hear me out.

Comparing the poster and the font cover of the album, you have the living characters surrounded by numerous deceased characters in the poster, and the Beatles surrounded by numerous deceased personalities. But when you look at the back cover of the album, you’ll see that Paul McCartney is facing away from you, just like Locke/Fake-Locke is in the poster. The image of Paul on the Beatles album fueled the conspiracy that he was in fact dead, despite that not really being the case (as far as we know…), so is the backward facing Locke image trying to tell us something similar… I’ll let you decide.

Mysteries of the Universe-ity – Pre SDCC Panel

Not too much longer left to wait until the LOST panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, I wonder what surprises Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse will have for us? There has been talk that they want to use their last appearance to give back to the fans, one such thing is they held a contest for fans to come up with a theme song for LOST. That could be ‘interesting’ but what we all really want it some info about the sixth and final season.

Its likely they’ll have a ‘special guest’ with them, last year it was Matthew Fox, the year before it was Harold Perrineau. Rumours have been circulating that it could even be Dominic Monaghan, that would be cool, we all miss Charlie, but I personally don’t think its likely. But then again we don’t really know what the 6th season is going to be about, remember that appears that they’ve just detonated a nuclear bomb on the island.

In the first couple of day of Comic Con a few Lost related things have popped up on the abc website. The first was the ‘Lost University’ site which I linked to here a couple of days back. It appears that it could be part of a new ARG to fill in the months until season 6, but no-one seems overly sure just yet. Lostpedia has compiled all the info off the site in one easy to read page, so I won’t bother duplicating it all here, but you can find out more about Lost University here.

Now another video has popped up, and it looks like its the first in a series of five videos to be released over the coming months. Titled ‘Mysteries of the Universe’, its been compiled to look like a 1970’s conspiracy documentary about secret societies. This first video doesn’t give too much away (you can watch it above), but any drip fed Lost info is a good thing. One thing to keep in mind though is that even if the content is ‘cool and interesting’ it doesn’t necessarily mean than the info is canon.

Hopefully we get teased with something cool at the last-ever Lost panel at SDCC.

Lost University

Could this be the new ARG to fill in the time before season 6 begins? Would have to be better than last year’s attempt… wouldn’t it? Click here.

Extra hour of LOST for Season 6

Originally planned at 16 hours when the deal for season 4, 5 and 6 was announced, it was then upped to 17 to make up for one of the episodes we missed out on because of the writers strike, and now we’ve got a whole 18 hours of LOST for the final season. However, its still only really 16 episodes, just that BOTH the premiere and the finale will double episodes. Plus its only a couple of weeks until Comic Con, what surprises do they have in store for us there…

The Incident

Took me a while to get around to rewatching the finale and writing my notes, but I was never going to not write about the finale. Remember it was a double episode so this post is bound to lengthy.

It’s Jacob!

When does this opening sequence take place? Mid to late 1800’s presumably since that is when the Black Rock apparently went missing. What’s more interesting though is the suggestion that Jacob in fact brought the ship to the island, if that’s the case did he play more of a part in bringing Oceanic 815, the Nigerian drug plan and Henry Gale’s hot air balloon to the island as well?

Who is Jacob’s enemy?

Jacob wasn’t alone in the open sequence, there was a second, unnamed, character on the beach with him. Who was he? There is some suggestion that he could be Esau, the biblical brother of Jacob. Also interesting to note that his clothing is black/dark and the complete opposite to Jacob’s white/light clothing.

It only ends once, everything that happens before that is just progress

Interesting quote form Jacob, hinting that here is some ultimate end-game that we are on the path too, and perhaps we haven’t even seen any indication what this end game may be yet.

Comic-Con isn’t Comic-Canon

In their final podcast for the year Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse cleared up the “issues” surrounding the Dharma video that was shown at last years Comic-Con featuring Pierre Chang. They confirmed that it was definitely Faraday behind the camera, and that the original plan had for it to tie in with the ARG (which got canceled due to the friggin’ global financial crisis), and that they’d originally planned for Faraday’s Dharma storyline to be told differently. He was going to remain on the island trying to convince Chang about what was going to happen in the future, but instead his storyline ended up with him leaving the island and working at Dharma HQ until his return 3 years later. They said there was always a chance that the Comic-Con material wouldn’t match up entirely with the true canon of the show, due to the material being planned/written long before work on season 5 began.

So which incident was the incident?

Was thinking about this on the bus into work this morning, look which incident was “the” incident. Was it the drill hitting the pocket of energy causing all metallic objects to get sucked down the shaft? Or was is it Juliet setting off the bomb with a rock?

Follow the Leader

It’s building up, I can feel it, the two hour finale (three if you include the clip show) just a few hours away, the incident looming, it’s going to be awesome… and then we have to wait for months until the final season starts. Lets start with a crackpot theory.

Are/were there two Dans on the island?

I originally based this on the assumption that Dan would have been older than Charlotte (and Miles), and that the Eloise we see with a young Dan playing the piano looks no much older than the Eloise on the island, meaning it would have to have been reasonably soon after leaving, and also we know that Charles is the father, and he remains on the island for longer than Eloise.

According to Lostpedia Dan was born in 1978 but there doesn’t appear to be any references for this date, its also suggested that if he were, then the scene with young Dan (approx. 10) would have been around 1988, then when we see Dan graduate from Oxford in 1996 (which would in theory make him 18 – not impossible) the character of Eloise has aged a lot in those 8 years, yet doesn’t age much at all between 1996 and 2007.

From this I believe there must be a baby Dan toddling around the hostiles camp, plus if she already had a son named Dan it would explain why Eloise was fairly quick to accept Jack’s explanation of things about them being from the future etc. I’m probably way off, but its fun to theorize a little.

Is Richard building a model of the Black Rock?

Maybe. It is a large ship with sails and a hull…

How did Locke find the others’ beach camp so easily?

I’m guessing “the island told him”, or maybe he just traipsed along the beach until he found them.

Alpert the Adviser

Sun asks Ben who Locke is talking to, he explains that his name is Richard Alpert and that he serves as an adviser of sorts, a role which has had for a very, very long time. Ok, we get it, he’s old, but how old? Did he help build the Statue? Is/was the Statue of Alpert? Does Alpert come from a time/place where man only had 4 toes?

I watched them all die

Sun asks Alpert if he met Jack, Kate, Jin etc in 1977, he tells that he remembers them well because he watched them all die. So I’ll assume they didn’t die from the detonation of the hydrogen bomb because you would expect that that would take Alpert too (maybe). When he says “them all”, who is he referring to? Does he mean everyone on the island, or everyone in the Dharma Initiative, or just Jack, Kate, Jin and the other losties? And for any of those groups, how did they die?

The bomb is under Dharmaville

Eloise tells Jack that the bomb if underneath what is now Dharmaville. To get to the bomb they go through an underwater tunnel into another mysterious, hieroglyphic laden chamber which Alpert refers to as “the tunnels”. Tunnels? interesting. Could these be the same tunnels that Smokey uses to makes its way to all parts of the island? I’m guessing that the “magic room” Ben goes into to summon smokey is also connected to the tunnels. Are these tunnels the same thing, or at least connected to the “cerebus vents” that were marked on the blast door map in the Swan station?

I really hate Phil and Radzinsky

Just saying.
